He is best known for his work in the USA. He achieved Hollywood stardom with his role as the monster in the film Frankenstein 1931. Several popular sequels followed as well as starring appearances in other films including Scarface 1932, The Lost Patrol 1934, and The Body Snatcher 1945. In 1941 Karloff gained acclaim on Broadway in Arsenic and Old Lace. He continued in television and films until Targets 1967.
